Imaginary Museum
DESCRIPTION
Imaginary Museum is an improv theater format centered on the paintings and key life moments of an artist invented by the audience that same evening.
Guided by a professional troupe of improvisers and musicians, each performance unfolds as a one-night-only living exhibition created in real time.
Through advanced theatrical and musical improvisation techniques, the story that develops alternates between reality and imagination: the most important moments of the artist's life, alongside the inside stories of their paintings and what they were living through.
The show combines theatrical storytelling, live music, and physical theatre to transform the venue into a gallery of unrepeatable works, often with a strong contrast between the artist's real life and the living artworks, whether a dramatic life with comical paintings, or vice versa.
The show can have fourth-wall breaks, interviews with audience members as critics of the artworks, and musical scenes, and it ends on a high: In a collective moment, all the paintings connect their monologues to end up saying the exact same phrase in unison, which becomes the legacy of the artist in question.
The audience decides the artist's defining traits, and the fate of the artworks, knowing that each gallery opening is unrepeatable and belongs only to them.
